Art Camps

Creative art camps offered at Viva Vida Art Gallery provide an opportunity to develop technique and explore creativity while enjoying the leisurely pace of the season.

 

Campers explore a variety of mediums, including painting (acrylic and watercolour), clay sculpture, animation, drawing, and much more.

 

From painting, to Graffiti art, to creative cooking, the goal is to create while having tons of fun!

Cost: $329* Full week

Extended hours are offered for $15* a day

Session 1: June 26th - June 30th

GROUPS: Ages 5-9 - Ages 10-12 and teens

VIVA LA VIDA IN ART 

Explore the world through art; it’s everywhere! Campers will spend this week exploring different types of art from painting to sculpting to drawing and more! Express yourself through an array of activities to guide you in a colourful journey of creative fun!

Session 2: July 3rd - 7th

GROUPS: Ages 5-9 - Ages 10-12 and teens

WARHOL, PICASSO, MONET, OH MY!

Paint, paint, paint... as we explore some of art’s greatest painters! From classical to surrealism to impressionism to abstract, explore the story of painting! Davinci, Kahlo, Matisse, Picasso, Dali, we paint! Inside and outside, we paint! Big and small, we paint! It's all about painting!

Session 3: July 10th - 14th

GROUPS: Ages 5-9 Ages 10-12 and teens

RHYTHM & HUES

Music and Art have always been intertwined! Let’s be inspired by the music of the past decades… from the 60s to the 2000s, we will explore a variety of art while listening to the music that inspired them. Pop, Folk, Hip Hop, and Rock & Roll, students will get to paint, tie dye, sculpt, and draw. It’s super cool!!!

Session 4: July 18th - 22nd

GROUPS: Ages 6 - 9 Ages 10-12 

 

TRASH REIMAGINED - TURNING JUNK INTO TREASURE

Make it up, do it up, upcycle!  Upcycling is a way of preserving the environment and creating new art. Be inspired by various artists who work with previously used materials, such as metal, wood, and plastic, to create beautiful works of art. Create collages, works in mixed media, sculpture and more. If you love art and care about the environment, this camp is for you!

TEEN OPTION: AGES 13-16

STREET “SCENE” GRAFFITI

Graffiti as an art has been around since prehistoric cave drawings. In this camp, participants will create their own "tag”. They will also learn about famous graffiti artists, work with stencils and spray. In addition participants will explore urban art, public art, and murals.

Session 5: July 25th - 29th

GROUPS: Ages 6 - 9 Ages 10-12

BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD

Draw, draw, draw! explore the crazy world of cartoons. Manga! Comic Strips! Caricature! Learn how to draw a variety of different styles as you keep a portfolio featuring your own series of dynamic drawings and doodles.

TEEN OPTION: AGES 13-16

DRAWING FOR TEENS

This camp will focus on the fundamentals of drawing: elements of line, composition, proportion, space and light, while using different drawing materials. Develop the eye of an artist!

Session 6: August 1st - 5th 

GROUPS: Ages 6 - 9 Ages 10-12

 

ONCE UPON A STORYTIME & CARTOONING

Stories, cartoons, mythology, puppets, drawings, and songs; how many ways are there to tell a story? We will explore the world of storytelling through clay animation, cartooning, drawing, manga, and more! What’s your story?

Session 7: August 8th - 12th

GROUPS: Ages 6 - 9 Ages 10-12 and teens

FANTASTIC FINE ARTS 

This week we will use the studio space as a way to explore  freedom of expression, creativity, and innovation. We look at what inspires artists to make art, encourage experimentation with technique, all while promoting self-confidence, subject matter, and the development of our own creative signature.

Session 8: August 15th - 19th

GROUPS: Ages 6 - 9 Ages 10-12 and teens

BOLD COLOURS, BEAUTIFUL ART

Explore the wonderful world of colours. Mix it! Blend it! Paint it? Learn about colour mixing and use colour techniques to create beautiful works of art. Explore artists like Matisse, Warhol, Mondrian, and Yayoi Kusama, and create your own masterpiece of colours!!!

Session 9: August 22nd - 26th

GROUPS: Ages 6 - 9 Ages 10-12 and teens

ARTICIPACTION 

Paint, sculpt, draw, and much more! Explore many different art mediums as you design original works of art. See the world of art from different perspectives.  Indoor and outdoor, put art into action…ART, ART, and more ART!

Registration and medical form

Waiver of Liability Relating to Coronavirus/COVID-19

Waiting  List 2023:
If you are interested in half days or drop-in registration, give us a call or send us an email specifying the session and days you are interested in, as well as your name, phone number, email and your child's name and age. 

PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID-19 regulations, some of our policies have changed. We are currently offering full week registrations with limited numbers, to adhere to social distancing guidelines. We will keep a waiting list for half days and drop-ins, should space be available, however, we have to give priority to full-day campers in order to reduce the amount of transitioning in and out of the Gallery.
