Art Camps

Creative art camps offered at Viva Vida Art Gallery provide an opportunity to develop technique and explore creativity while enjoying the leisurely pace of the season.

 

Campers explore a variety of mediums, including painting (acrylic and watercolour), clay sculpture, animation, drawing, and much more.

 

From painting, to Graffiti art, to creative cooking, the goal is to create while having tons of fun!

GROUPS: Ages 6-9 - Ages 10-12 and teens

VIVA LA VIDA IN ART 

Explore the world through art; it’s everywhere! Get creative as you learn to express yourself through painting, sculpting, drawing, and more! A blitz of activities to guide you in a colourful journey of creative fun!

Session 2: July 5th - 9th

GROUPS: Ages 6-9 - Ages 10-12 and teens

ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE

There’s nothing better than looking at the world through rose coloured glasses. Let’s be inspired by the music of the sixties...Beatlemania, Beach Boys, The Supremes, and many more. Music changed a generation and inspired a lot of ART. Explore the art of the 60’s, while grooving to the amazing music of that decade. Create both indoors and outdoors. Tie dye it, bead it, paint it, sculpt it, all in the spirit of the 60’s. It’s super cool!!!

Session 3: July 12th - 16th

GROUPS: Ages 6-9 Ages 10-12 and teens

THE DAVINCI EXPERIENCE   

Paint, paint, paint... as we explore the work of well-known painters. From classical to impressionism to abstract, explore the story of painting! Davinci, Monet, Matisse, Picasso, we paint! Inside and outside, we paint! Big and small, we paint! It\s all about painting!

Session 4: July 19th - 23rd

GROUPS: Ages 6 - 9 Ages 10-12 

 

UP, UP AND AWAY!

Make it up, do it up, upcycle!  Upcycling is a way of preserving the environment and creating new art. Be inspired by various artists who work with previously used materials to create beautiful works of art in both 2D and 3D. Create collages, works in mixed media, sculpture and more. If you love art and care about the environment, this camp is for you!

TEEN OPTION: AGES 13-16

STREET “SCENE” GRAFFITI

Graffiti as an art has been around since prehistoric cave drawings. In this camp, participants will create their own "tag”. They will also learn about famous graffiti artists, work with stencils and spray. In addition participants will explore urban art, public art, and murals.

Session 5: July 26th - 30th

GROUPS: Ages 6 - 9 Ages 10-12

DRAW IT AND “TOON” IT!

Draw, draw, draw! explore the crazy world of cartoons. Manga! Comic Strips! Caricature! Learn how to draw a variety of different cartoon styles as you create a book featuring your own series of dynamic drawings and doodles. 

TEEN OPTION: AGES 13-16

DRAWING FOR TEENS

This camp will focus on the fundamentals of drawing: elements of line, composition, proportion, space and light, while using different drawing materials. Develop the eye of an artist!

Session 6: August 2nd - 6th 

GROUPS: Ages 6 - 9 Ages 10-12

 

THE ART OF STORYTELLING

Storybooks, mythology, storytelling, puppets, songs; how many ways are there to tell a story? We will explore the world of storytelling including stories through music and art. We will look at how songs also tell stories, and how art and music have been linked, through videos, album covers and animation. What’s your story? Draw it, write it, tell it!

TEEN OPTION: AGES 13-16

TRIP OUT! Art Appreciation 

Step out into the world of art. We will visit galleries and art installations, explore artistic mediums, as well as create our own fine art. Learn what it means to live in the world of fine art.

Session 7: August 9th - 13th

GROUPS: Ages 6 - 9 Ages 10-12 and teens

OPEN STUDIO  

This week we will use the studio space as a way to explore the freedom of expression, collaboration and creativity. We will use various mediums and art forms to encourage experimentation, collaboration, conversation and self-confidence, all the while working to apply creativity to all aspects of life! Art is life...life is art!

Session 8: August 16th - 20th

GROUPS: Ages 6 - 9 Ages 10-12 and teens

PAINT ME A RAINBOW

Explore the wonderful world of colours. Mix it! Blend it! Paint it? Learn about colour mixing and use colour techniques to create beautiful works of art. Explore artists like Matisse, Mondrian, and Yayoi Kusama's works of art, and paint up your own masterpiece of colours!!! 

 

Session 9: August 23rd - 27th

GROUPS: Ages 6 - 9 Ages 10-12 and teens

ARTICIPACTION 

Paint, sculpt, draw, and much more! Explore many different art mediums as you design original works of art. See the world of art from different perspectives.  Indoor and outdoor, put art into action…ART, ART, and more ART!

Waiver of Liability Relating to Coronavirus/COVID-19

Waiting  List 2021:

If you are interested in half days or drop-in registration, give us a call or click the waiting list button and send us an email specifying the session and days you are interested in as well as your name, phone number, email and your child's name and age. 

PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID-19 regulations, some of our policies have changed. We are currently offering full week registrations with limited numbers, to adhere to social distancing guidelines. We will keep a waiting list for half days and drop-ins, should space be available, however, we have to give priority to full-day campers in order to reduce the amount transitioning in and out of the Gallery.
